Gower College is seeking a temporary Student Support Officer to support identified at risk students to ensure that they are retained on their courses and achieve their potential.

This is a rewarding role which will require you to identify and mentor at risk learners and refer them to the appropriate support mechanisms. Applicants will have a degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work or Safeguarding. Experience of working with 14-19 year olds in a social work environment is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the confidence to communicate to different groups of people.

In addition you will need to demonstrate initiative and good IT skills. Entry level Welsh Language skills are desirable for this post.

Flexibility is essential to work across different College sites and on weekends and evenings when necessary.

Appointments will normally be made to the bottom of the salary scale with annual increments on 1st August each year (subject to completing 6 months service).
