Job Purpose

You will be responsible for leading and managing a small team of Business Analysts to help deliver the company’s projects and BAU initiatives.  In this role you will manage, review and prioritise all Business Analysis requests received before allocating the work between yourself and the team for delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for ensuring the capture of accurate and complete requirements across projects and BAU initiatives as assigned
  • Lead and coach the Business Analyst team to ensure that BA artefacts are produced to a high standard. Set objectives for the team, hold 1-2-1s and undertake appraisals
  • Maintain a capacity plan, allocate work to the team and support the Change Manager in planning activity
  • Keep stakeholders informed of the status of their requests that are in the BA backlog
  • Suggest methods and techniques most appropriate to the situation at hand
  • Set and evolve BA working practices and standards whilst proactively looking for ways to develop the function and its adoption of Agile practices and the individuals in the team
  • Support our risk aware culture by tasking the team to output requirements that include controls or processes which ensure that systems continue to deliver as design beyond the life of the project
  • Implement a process to ensure that solutions for initiatives of all scales are well considered and do not harm the business
  • Protect against scope creep + gold plating
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Delivery Manager and Project Managers and feed them with stakeholder requirements for how and when their changes need to be delivered
  • Maintain a view of all current projects to look for potential problems in which requirements from one project have an impact on another project
  • Develop a firm understanding of the business domain and the varying needs of different types of users
  • Adhoc coordination of small BAU initiatives

Knowledge, experience, skills, other attributes

  • Thorough understanding of Business Analysis best practice
  • Experience of leading or coaching other Business Analysts
  • Ability to prioritise and manage a team’s busy workload effectively
  • Experience in agile and waterfall working practices
  • Interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Ability to influence and challenge
  • Proven logical troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Excellent writing skills to create business documentation, using a variety of techniques for requirements-elicitation
