Who are we looking for?

We are seeking someone with a genuine passion and interest in data, to provide a valuable contribution to the Organisation. You will ideally have significant experience of working in a statistical or analytical role. You will be enthusiastic, an excellent communicator, analytical and numerate, with a drive to offer creative and innovative solutions.

The Business Intelligence project is being delivered by the data team using the BI tool Qlikview. Experience of designing and developing Qlikview dashboards or working with a similar BI product along with project management experience would be desirable criteria.

The following key qualities are essential:

Significant experience in a similar analytical role – You will have extensive experience of data analysis, interpreting data and reporting techniques.

A proven track record in the application of Microsoft Excel to a superior level – You will use your skills in excel to process, validate and present data. The ability to write complicated formula, applying coding and VBA and the creation of user friendly dashboards is essential. Your capabilities using MS excel will be assessed prior to interview. 

Experience of Microsoft Sequel Server SSRS/SQL – Practical experience of working with relational databases is essential. You will interrogate our central databases using SSRS and SQL code to create queries and reports. Create exception reports that identify missing or inaccurate data that helps front line staff maintain accurate records and identifies opportunities for enhanced validation within our business systems.

Ability to handle and organise large sets of data – Ability to transform and process large datasets and undertake data validation with attention to detail and accuracy. You will be numerate and have a broad knowledge of statistical techniques and the ability to implement them in the interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data. Your ability to interrogate and make meaningful conclusions out of complicated datasets is paramount and relied upon by the business in order to fully understand the potential and any limitations with the dataset.

Knowledge and proven track record in the visualisation and presentation of data for a variety of audiences – Design and create dynamic dashboards that facilitate user interaction using BI tools including QlikView and MS Excel. You will be confident in analysing both quantitative and qualitative datasets and use a variety of presentation formats to convey your findings. You will have excellent report writing skills that concisely summarises findings using appropriate visuals to support your narrative. In addition, you will be comfortable in presenting your findings orally in meetings or workshops.

Proven ability to lead internal staff, providing guidance and advice on a methodology for analysis that meets or exceeds expectations -  Work collaboratively to ensure that research, analysis and evaluation needs are met and opportunities identified to improve and develop through enhanced Business Intelligence.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret, present and translate complex information to a wide range of groups and individuals – You will have excellent interpersonal skills that enables you to work effectively with staff at all levels. You are comfortable at giving presentations and delivering training sessions and able to convey complex information in a structured and easy to understand format. You will work across departments, providing advice, guidance and interpretation on complex multidisciplinary issues.

Ability to work to challenging deadlines, managing workload and prioritise conflicting demand - You will work efficiently and effectively in the management of your workload to balance daily tasks with projects and ad hoc requests for data and information. You will often work on your own initiative and balance this with supporting the wider team. The ability to liaise with key stakeholders across departments outlining timescales, requirements and expectations is essential.

Strong evaluation and analytical skills – You take pride in the work you produce and strive for accuracy in everything that you do. Your diligence and keen eye for detail ensures that your work is thorough and accurate at all times. In addition, you have a sound understanding of, and ability to work within the principles of data protection and confidentiality.
