Salary: £21,697 pro rata

25 hours per week (working pattern to be discussed with successful candidate)

Blackwood (With travel to Newport and Monmouthshire)

Mileage paid

Fixed term until April 2019 with possibility of extension

This is a rare opportunity to use your exceptional skills in this area. Based at our extra care scheme Cefn Glas in Blackwood. You will be the main member of the Active Ageing Team promoting health and wellbeing activities at the scheme and elsewhere on occasion

Who are we?

Derwen is the only housing association in Wales focusing purely on the needs of older people in Wales. We currently provide services to over 1000 residents in Newport, Monmouthshire and Caerphilly.

Derwen are part of the Pobl Group that includes Reach, the care provider at Cefn Glas

Derwen offers a wide range of services designed to make it easier for people to live healthy and independent lives within their community.

How can I make a difference?

You will lead on developing and promoting health and wellbeing activities at Cefn Glas although as part of the Active Ageing Team you will be involved in other activities across Derwen. This will involve working with partners including Reach, health, social care and the voluntary sector. This is a front line role focusing on face to face engagement with the residents and the wider community at Cefn Glas

Who are we looking for?

You’ll have experience of working with people and have the ability to motivate and support them to take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.

You will be happy making contact with other organisations to help provide activities and events that promote Active Ageing. You will be confident in promoting a positive, inclusive and vibrant environment focused around residents’ needs and interests.

You will be enthusiastic in empowering and supporting residents to set up and run their own sustainable groups and activities.

You’ll be able to work as part of a team, together with the ability to work alone and to take the initiative in decision making.

You’ll have good communication skills and have the ability to network and demonstrate interpersonal skills. You will be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Outlook

You will need to hold a full driving licence and have use of a car. For this role you’ll require an enhanced DBS check, which Pobl will pay for.
