Reporting to the Engineering Manager will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day Safety, Equipment availability, Equipment related quality issues, Throughput improvements and Costs for an area of the plant that contains the majority of the hot metal and heat treatment processes. This is a Senior Mechanical Engineer role based near Swansea

In conjunction with the relevant area Business Unit Manager, the focus of the role is to develop & implement the daily/weekly preventive & predictive maintenance regime, directing internal and external labour to carry them out in an efficient and productive manner. This is a pro-active role that strives to eliminate reactive tasks.

The role is 8hr days, but there is an expectation to be available 24/7 for technical support and direction from personnel at all levels.

Main Responsibilities:
• Safety – must Promote and contribute to an accident free workplace by ensuring full compliance with Safe Systems of Work and ensuring safety performance measures are achieved or exceeded
• Quality – Is accountable for ensuring compliance with all quality systems and procedures
• Throughput – Accountable for process development and improvements to achieve the daily TOC $ Lines, Pieces and On-Time to Schedule to the customer
• Daily work plans – Must achieve 100% Major service PM Compliance on a weekly basis.
• Daily Flex – Is accountable for the ‘Repairs’ element of the daily spends report and a minimum 2% quarter on quarter reduction.
• Equipment performance measures established & improved through the application of an effective preventive maintenance strategy.
• Cost reduction initiatives identified, implemented & verified
• Engineering systems development support
• Capital Projects initiated and completed on time and budget

Key skills
 Qualified to minimum HNC in Mechanical Engineering with an Engineering Degree desirable. A proven track record of applying mechanical expertise to expedite results essential.
 Must possess Structured Problem Solving skills
 Working or expert experience in metals industry, Manufacturing Support, SAP R3 Maintenance Management and Continuous Improvement Techniques.
 Technically competent in the use of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Refractory Systems, Metal Forming, PUWER/LOLER and Machining Process’.
 Engineering design capability, a working knowledge of CAD,
 Fully conversant with the MS Office suite of software
 The ability to lead teams and champion change
 Experienced in Managing People and carrying out tough decisions.

Travel to work from Bridgend, Merthyr, Swansea, Port Talbot, Llanelli
