Play leader based at St Marys Church in Wales Primary School

Blaenau Gwent

Hours of work: Monday-Friday 3.00pm – 5:30pm

Plus 1 hour admin

16 hours per week

Job Description:

  • Managing the day-to-day running of the after school club
  • Liaise with Management daily
  • Liaise with the school daily and create a positive working relationship
  • Handle and manage cash payments
  • Manage staff team daily
  • Deal with questions / complaints professionally
  • Assisting with the day-to-day running of the After School Club, including setting up and clearing up.
  • Preparing snack, drinks and tea in line with club’s Healthy Eating Policy.
  • Supervising play opportunities with children.
  • Contributing towards planning and preparation of craft activities and assisting children with these.
  • Ensuring the children have a fun, enjoyable and exciting experience in club.

Qualifications:

A level 3 is essential in CCLD / Playwork

Current First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates an advantage.

Experience:

Experience with children age 3 – 11 preferred and experience of playwork a definite advantage.

Rate of pay:

£8.50 + per hour, dependent on qualifications and experience.

The candidate must be confident in running an after school club with daily duties such as handling cash payments, organising paperwork, dealing with parents, working closely with management and creating a positive professional relationship with the school. The successful candidate must feel confident with dealing with staff on a day-to-day basis. We are searching for someone who will be a lively, enthusiastic, a self-motivated person who is able to work both as part of a team and on their own initiative. They must be able to get on well with, and respect all children and adults, must be prepared to ‘muck-in’ with all tasks and must have a good understanding of safety awareness and risk assessment. They must be willing to undergo relevant initial and on-going training and CRB checks.
