Due to expansion at our clients South Wales based facility, the company now requires a high caliber candidate to run part of the manufacturing operation.

Reporting to the General Manager, the job entails being responsible for managing all manufacturing resources (staff, machines & materials) to deliver high quality products to end customers exacting specifications.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage a team of approximately 30 staff
• Manage a high technology surface mount manufacturing line within around 10,000 sq. ft of manufacturing space.
• Ensure products are built to customers exacting specifications, on time, on cost and to specification.
• Liaise with engineering and sales to effectively introduce new customer products into manufacturing.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to drive down costs and improve manufacturing performance.

Key Skills
• Strong People manager and motivator. Experience of staff recruitment, development, appraisal and performance management. Time and attendance management.
• Capacity Planning – machines and staff.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as 6 sigma, 5S, Total Quality Management, defect reporting and analysis.
• Strong planning and scheduling skills. Able liaise with internal sales force and customers to agree optimum production schedules.
• Knowledge of workflow and scheduling tools like Just In Time, MRPII, OPT.
• A knowledge of electronics assembly/ surface mount technology very advantageous.

Experience
• Typically more than 5 years experience in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
• The candidate must have managed a complete manufacturing line in the past.
• HNC/ Degree preferred.
• Good general knowledge of electronics manufacturing would be a distinct advantage.
• Motivated, self-starter, results driven
• A positive work attitude is essential.
