Overview
Well established PCB manufacturing division of a PLC group of companies, a British designer and manufacturer of smart LED lighting solutions. The Companys proprietary technology seamlessly integrates lighting and controls to provide intelligent, cost effective, low energy lighting solutions for the commercial and architectural market. They also provide LED lighting solutions for specialist applications such as film & television production lighting, UV curing and medical applications.
Due to expansion at the South Wales based manufacturing facility, the company now requires a high caliber candidate to run the PCB manufacturing operation.
Job Outline
Reporting to the General Manager, the job entails being responsible for managing all manufacturing resources (staff, machines & materials) to deliver high quality products to customers exacting specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a team of approximately 30 staff
Manage a high technology surface mount manufacturing line within around 10,000 sq. ft of manufacturing space.
Ensure products are built to customers exacting specifications, on time, on cost and to specification.
Liaise with engineering and sales to effectively introduce new customer products into manufacturing.
Lead continuous improvement efforts to drive down costs and improve manufacturing performance.
Key Skills
Strong People manager and motivator. Experience of staff recruitment, development, appraisal and performance management. Time and attendance management.
Capacity Planning - machines and staff.
Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques such as 6 sigma, 5S, Total Quality Management, defect reporting and analysis.
Strong planning and scheduling skills. Able liaise with internal sales force and customers to agree optimum production schedules.
Knowledge of workflow and scheduling tools like Just in Time, MRPII, OPT.
A knowledge of electronics assembly/ surface mount technology very advantageous.
Experience
Typically, with a proven track record in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.
The candidate must have managed a complete manufacturing line in the past.
HNC/ Degree preferred.
Good general knowledge of electronics manufacturing would be a distinct advantage.
