Job Elements: -
• To provide engineering knowledge and support to the companies Development and New Product Introduction activities.
• To develop new products in line with the business strategy
• To develop awareness of technological trends, opportunities, and implementation where appropriate, throughout the business
• To develop new materials in conjunction with the supply base
• To source new materials in support of the companies RFQ process
• To complete project work in line with customer / business requirements
• To ensure that all New products are introduced in a timely manner and comply with customers requirements
• To complete initial sample trials and tool try outs on new products
• To complete visits to new and existing suppliers where required
• To identify improved systems of work, through the continuous improvement (Kaizen) system.
The ideal candidate will have:
• An education to degree level.
• As a Product development engineer you will need a technical background with strong analytical skills and practical ability.
• Strong attention to detail and good inter-personal skills.
• A strong set of PC skills – more than Microsoft Office, the ability to us a PC as an Engineering Tool.
• The ability to work and support business group and other engineering functions.
• Confidently liaise with suppliers, universities and other relevant organisations / bodies on product specifications / performance matters.
• Ability to communicate and feedback with all departments.
