Job Elements: -
• An experienced engineer is needed to manage and provide technical coordination of mechanical, structural, composite, electrical and controls engineers scaling up production volume
• Establish engineering solutions to further in terms of cost reduction (both initial procurement cost and cost of ownership), reliability improvement and power.
• Lead the engineering team in delivering modifications to the existing product
• Lead the engineering team in the development of future new products as and when the business establishes the need for them.
• Ensure support is provided to the installation/maintenance and production teams as required by the business
• Provide weekly and monthly reporting to the COO, and the business as required
• Conduct appraisals and generally ensure the engineering team operate as an efficient and motivated team.
• To maintain “best practice” processes and methods in a fast paced small company environment while continuing to deliver.
• To meet stringent cost and timescale budgets
• To be able to analyse and lead the engineering team in producing innovative product improvements across multiple engineering disciplines (Composites, Mechanical, Aerodynamics, Electrical and Control Systems).
The ideal candidate will have:
• A minimum of 10 years experience of, or significantly skilled in leading engineering teams
• Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline
• Chartered engineer (ideally)
• Demonstrable experience managing teams
• Working in and acting as engineering lead of projects
• Experience of working in a small company
• DFMEA & PFMEA experience
• APQP preferable
• 8D
• Working with overseas suppliers
