Job Elements: -
• Providing support to the program managers for the introduction of new projects.
• To ensure that the manufacturing facility is fully equipped for the new project, this requires all tooling, equipment and process documentation to be in place.
• To ensure that tooling and process cost targets are achieved.
• To research all aspects of manufacturing technology and systems in order to establish optimum technologies and manufacturing strategies for future business.
• The manufacturing engineer is responsible for implementing tooling and documentation changes initiated by the Engineering Change Procedure.
• To work closely with operators / quality engineers / shift managers / maintenance in day to day problem solving.
• The manufacturing engineer must also focus on driving through continuous improvement by reducing process costs and ensuring that we have robust processes, also design robust poke-yoke systems to ensure that we minimise the risk of supplying defect product to our customers.
• Manage external suppliers of tooling and machines. Ensuring equipment and tooling meets specifications and standards
• To analyse and implement the manufacturing process using the most appropriate technology and ensuring process capability with respect to the total manufacturing system. Ensuring process used meets or exceeds cost and quality targets
• To provide operator introductions and visual aids to ensure correct process implementation. Accurate documentation to allow operators to manufacture products
• Producing process flows / control plans / PFMEA's. Accurate documentation to meet our customers requirements
• Manage and support the use of problem solving activities using appropriate tools. Support lean tools, six sigma goals, PPAP goals
• Install poke-yoke systems into the manufacturing process. Ensuring equipment and tooling is designed to minimise the risk of supplying defect product to the customers
• To identify cost reduction opportunities within the business. Help to improve profitability through participation in regular CI meetings.
What the company are seeking in the successful candidate:
• Technical higher education (HNC, HND minimum)
• 5 years experience in a high volume manufacturing facility automotive preferred
• Have worked in an assembly environment.
• FMEA, SPC, PPAP, PCP and Six Sigma knowledge
