The Role
Job Holder to lead, co-ordinate, control, manage and ensure the cost effective operation of a Structural Engineering Maintenance service to all customer departments within the Business, in respect of steel structures, conveyors, cladding, protective painting, gantry railing, glazing, chimney stack maintenance, compiling detailed condition Inspection re-ports and writing detailing technical job specifications. To be responsible for the maintenance and safety in line with the Construction Design Management Regulations 2007.
Demonstrate an extremely strong Health and Safety leadership in all aspects of structural/construction activities on site including a full knowledge and understanding of the companies Health and Safety systems and relevant statutory duties and legislation. Ensure the effective operation and development of the structural contract. Provide mentoring and management to graduates, trainees and trade apprentices.
Co-ordinate the activities of all personnel by maintaining liaison with and advising Senior Managers, Production Managers, Departmental, Planning Engineers and Structural Co-ordinators across plant. Manage and control a large Contractor workforce providing a diverse range of Structural Engineering skills under the organisation Structural maintenance contract. Provide technical expertise to all site areas for all Structural Engineering activities. Co-ordinates, plans, supervise and manages all work of the contractor, inspecting all work on completion.
Skills and Experience
HNC or Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Studies with experience in Project Management. Experience in a heavy industrial environment would be beneficial but not essential. A working knowledge of pertinent health and safety legislation e.g. CDM Regulations required.
